Czytałem kiedyś we Wprost artykuł, którego teza brzmiała: Polacy zwracają uwagę na teksty, Amerykanie – nie. Potem autor (był to chyba „kurdupel nadęty, miernota przeklęty”, ale nie jestem pewien na 100%) wymienił kilka wyjątków, amerykańskich twórców z ambicjami litearckimi: Boba Dylana i kogoś tam jeszcze. Słowem nie wspomniał o Lou Reedzie. Polacy chwalący grafomanów pokroju Kazika „wielkiego socjologa” Staszewskiego lub Muńka Staszczyka zwracają uwagą na teksty, a ci głupi Amerykanie – nie. A przecież nawet Steve Albini, który uważa, że słowa są mu potrzebne tylko po to, żeby miał o czym krzyczeć do mikrofonu, potrafił spłodzić liryki sprawiające, iż 1000 Hurts to przejmujący – mimo pozorowanego cynizmu autora tekstów – koncept album.
A piszę o Lou Reedzie, bo za cholerę nie mogłem się parę dni temu uwolnić od tego kawałka, który – niemożliwe – ma doskonały tekst:
